Travel insurance

for Snowbirds

The assurance everything is going to be alright

Thinking of spending a few weeks or months in a little corner of paradise far away from the cold? You are not alone. While Canadian retirees used to mainly visit the United States to escape winter, many now choose the Caribbean, South America, Portugal or Mexico. Keep in mind, however, that the quality of care and the cost of hospitalization can vary greatly from one country to the next. Without the proper insurance coverage, however, you stay somewhere warm could turn into a cold shower.

Multi-trip travel insurance for Snowbirds

Like many fortunate retirees, maybe you travel several times a year for stays of less than 60 days. This is a great opportunity to explore multiple locations while renting short-term accommodations. With this coverage, you’ll be protected for a full year while saving time and money.

Travel insurance for pre-existing medical conditions

Do you have health issues? As a travel insurance broker, Securiglobe is dedicated to guiding you through a wide range of products adapted to your condition, even if your issues only started recently.

Be aware that your pre-existing medical conditions have an impact on your travel insurance coverage. They are covered if they meet your policy’s stability criteria prior to your policy’s effective date. Some of our insurance providers, however, only require a seven-day stability period before they will cover you.

Examples of insurable pre-existing conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
  • High blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Heart conditions
  • Stomach and intestinal disorders (gastrointestinal)

What you need to know before filling out the medical questionnaire

The answers on the medical questionnaire (if applicable) determine the appropriate underwriting for coverage of your pre-existing conditions.

While filling out this form:

  • Take your time;
  • Read or listen to each question carefully as one or more incorrect answers could result in your coverage being cancelled and your claim denied;
  • Have your prescriptions or a description of your medications handy so you can refer to it during the call;
  • Review the answers you provided to make sure they are correct;
  • Consult your doctor if you’re unsure of the answer to one or more questions about your medical condition or medications.
  • If someone else completes the medical questionnaire for you, don’t forget that you are responsible for ensuring that the answers are correct.
